Outdoor Cultivators - Solve This Mystery - PESA On Composted Manure
    #8361306 -

I've had my first fruits arrive on an outdoor bed, but they look incredibly strange. I recieved a print from a PESA clone, and used an inoculation loop to agar, then scraped mycellium to a jar, and did G2G transfers to 20 jars of rye grains.

Half of these jars were used indoors on compost, and provided great results, but the jars that I spawned outdoors have produced these strange fruits. The outdoor bed is eight inches of layered manure and hay, and cased with two inces of topsoil.

Anyone who can offer advice would be appreciated. This is my second year with outdoor cultivation, and I've had mystery fruits on both occasions.

Thanks and Love.

Holy crap! I can offer no advice, but those are possibly the strangest looking fruits I've ever seen. Perhaps your bed was contaminated with another species mushroom? I'll leave it to the experts...

Those don't look like cubes.

Those are a contaminant species, not cubensis. Cubes might still fruit from the same patch later, so don't give up on them.

How are contaminated species introduced to an outdoor grow?

I used ten full quarts of very healthy spawn, and I am amazed that another species could run faster than this PESA.

How likely are cubes to fruit from this same patch later in the season? I plan to spawn some Texan jars to another bed in the same area, and I'm wondering if I'll be at risk of contaminating those as well. Could these contaminates come from the hay that I collected from a field?

Sorry so many questions. Just really bummed that this has occured again in the same general area as last year.
