My gas cap has a lock on it, and now that gas is $4.18, I'm glad I have that extra bit of security.

We have full service here, so I imagine itd be tougher to steal gas. PLus stations make dick from selling gas.

I worked at a gas station for 3 years before. I know that they make most of their money selling the crap inside the gas station, not the gas itself. The employee's don't give a shit if you do a drive off, but they have to report it. If you are going to do a drive off, do it at a big business like Amoco or Pb. Those bastards take the loss, and they already count for the loss. So if no one steals gas, then they just get more money because the price of the stolen gas is in the price all customers pay. If everyone started stealing gas tho, they would just raise the prices.

I know thats not what the op was saying, but everyone went in a different direction.

I was working In a kangaroo a few years ago, and there was a group of people going around Florida driving a truck with a huge tank on the back. They would open up the pump, hook up a laptop, and program it to pump without showing up in the store.

Rumor was a few hundred thousand in gas was stolen all over the state.:shrug:
