this is a simple little quesion, should rye grain look drier after it has been pressure cooked? cuz mine does and I am scared i fucked up. any pictures of rye grain fresh outta the pc would be appreciated too.

Hi,

no it should not look drier after it had been pressurecooked!
Maby to many water is vaporized during sterilization, look if your jar is not to much open at the top during pressure cooking.

well it should look drier, but not bone dry. i have been having trouble getting the water content right lately. i did it last night the stamets way. soaked for 24 hours in water put in a bag and pressure cooked. it came out a lot drier than it went in. when i precooked it and pc'd it came out looking more wet.
better too dry than too wet. you can always inject sterile water into it

...it's not really that advanced!

The grain should NOT look wet. It actually does look kind of dry and shakes around in the jar like nuts, not stuck together. You should not have any exploded kernals. It may look a bit dry but after pc'ing, there should be about 4 inches of grain instead of just 2..approx.

Usually, after pc'ing, the top looks very dry and the bottom looks a bit wet. Shake it all up so the drier can absorb some of the wetter over a few hours. Shake it up again before innoculating.
