Our everyday life and habits form our identity

If you habitually use anything daily it becomes a part of who you are and that stays with you through your life. I used to use some bad drugs and since i quit i can tell for sure that they left there mark on me in good ways and bad, i dont think these things will go away so they have become part of who i am my identity

its your character made up by the influence of your family, friends, and (big part) society mixed in with personal experience and mindset IMO

An "personal identity" is to me a falsity.

From a 1st person perspective, you are what you have experienced. Your life is a spiral of evolving emotions. Events and your perception of them shape how you react and behave. It is ridiculous to conceive of "identity" from the perspective of the individual, because an individual cannot "identify" themselves. The individual identify themselves in the context of other people. Without other people, the context of identity would disappear. It is this 3rd person context that identity manifests in.

An identity is required for 3rd person perspective. Other people provide this identity based on generalities that are easily observed. We listen to what people think about us and often try to conform to the positive or negative aspects they project on our personalities. Essentially, people often become the identity they are assigned.

Society and individuals behave towards us based on our "identities". In reality each person has as many different "identities" as the people they know and come in contact with. Our identities change based on the perceptions of whoever is perceiving us, and the way we are treated is based on these 3rd person assumptions.

So for the purposes of your class, you should tell them that your identity is a fuck-up criminal that needs to be guided around like a child in a remedial program. This is the identity the court has assigned you, and therefore it is the way it is treating you.

You should say (but not actually mean) you are trying to conform to the identity they WANT you to have, which is a penitent and obedient criminal.

considering that this is just for court. don't think about the question too seriously. just write a bunch of bullshit about how experiences and genetics make up your identity.

Life experiences including family friends and personal choices make up personal identity.

Also included would be political and religious views which are again shaped by personal experience and influence of those around you.

Nature vs. Nurture...

The combination of both.

A person is known by his actions.

There is no inherent self, however.
