Strange Colinization

Ok so I had some left over mally in a syringe had sitting on my drawer for about 3 Months.

So I thought im not going to let it waste an sit there so I thought id noc up a couple of jars with it.

The funny thing is in 4 days the jar was 40 percent colinized. And this cant be mold or cobweb Because its has that rhizomorphic growth.

The syringe was loaded with spores it was super thick.

And what else is funny is that i also have gt. I inoculated them up at the same time an there just now starting to have little white spots everywhere.


Any ideas why this i like this?



theres a pic. I was bout to toss it i thought it was a contam but it tunrs out its not. Just so fast after 3 days it was at 20 percent then it just flooded the next couple days.

The spores have probably germinated while sitting in the syringe, which makes it more or less a "LC".
As you might know, LCs colonize substrates faster than just spores, because the germination process is already done, when you knock up your jars.

However, 40% or visible colonization in 4 days sounds a little much.
I wouldn't want to say it's impossible, but it's strangely fast.

I agree with fahkface as to the possible germination and or also maybe you inoculated an extra cc or two in those jars.

Yeah I agree with Fahk......to an extent. 4 days would be REALLY fast, especially for a multispore. And just cause a syringe is super thick with spores isn't necessarily a good thing either. It would be great if you could post some pics so we could take a look :smile:

Maybe the spores were a little more healthy or germinated more sitting in the syringe than the GT. It should all catch up with a few days. The parameters could have had quite a few differences as well. Number of spores, germination, temperature, moisture, ratio of mixures and unless your a university doing all sorts of blind studies the end results should be more than satisfactory. The hardest part of this hobby IMO is waiting the few days to see what is happening and seeing some significant changes for the good and since there are so many variables as long as you don't have a contam problem, IMO it's all good and your know soon enough. Ima post a pic now but no you dont get it ive never had this happen before when i first used this mally it waqs the regular taking 5 day wait for colinization now its crazy 5 days now an its got even more likes 50 percent almost.

An the gt is at like 15 percent

I noc'd up 2 mallys one was lost to contam i thought this was cobweb cause it was so fast but its not.

I'd make some master LC jars for storage and some petri dishes. Play around with the dishes for the fun of it.
