Anyone ever listen to SKINNY PUPPY while tripping?
    #8239082 -

So Skinny Puppy is one of my favorite bands... incredibly dark, twisted, mangled industrial emanating from the depths of the subconscious of three canadian heroin addicts. Has anyone listened to any full album by the Pup such as Too Dark Park or Last Rights while tripping? I'd have done it already, but I'm a bit too worried about eldritch beasties of the Lovecraftian variety coming out the dark shadows of my room and assimilating me if I tried.

Heh, accessible... That word just strikes me as funny when it comes to Skinny Puppy. You might want to try some of their very early work like Remission (almost 80s synth style with some very dark undertones), or their latest two albums The Greater Wrong of the Right and Mythmaker. I'd highly recommend TGWoR, actually... that's what got me hooked on the Pup. Not very similar at all to the majority of their work, but certainly freaking excellent industrial/electronica.

Never mind, I realized that it was PT Grimm and The Dead Puppies I was thinking of.

The Process is a more accessible Puppy album and kind of stands on its own stylistically. It's the one before The Greater Wrong...

I had a friend in high school who would tell me about his older brother who never had a bad time on psychedelics so he listened to SP in the dark to see if he could put himself into one. I think he said it worked.

Too Dark Park and Last Rights are amazing trip albums. Clearly not for everyone, but for those that already appreciate the music, it is magical.

Been listening to Skinny Puppy on and off for over 25 years.  And yes, Last Rights is a very good album.

You've definitely got to be in a mood to listen to them

They made the news a few years ago for the mistreatment of their music.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/skinny-puppy-bills-pentagon-music-gitmo/story?id=22383549

" Cevin Key, keyboard player for the Canadian rockers known as Skinny Puppy, told ABC News he was shocked and angry to hear from a fan and former Gitmo prison guard that their music had been used as a form of torture at the military base in Cuba.

"I was told that people were forced to listen to music at an intolerable level," said Key. "This one particular interrogator would put one of our songs on repeat for 6-10 hours at a time. After six hours [the prisoners] was belittled, kicked, punched and so on. I just can't imagine music being used that way."
