Giardia at the kennels...

Apparently one of the dogs that came in for "Doggie Day Camp" today at work (Petsmart PetsHotel) had Giardia, a parasite caused sickness that is contagious to dogs as well as humans, and no one knew about it. UNTIL, the dog started having diarrhea every 10 minutes and started puking fairly often.

Soooo, we put the dog in a kennel in the quarantine room, hoping none of the other dogs had contracted it. But sure enough, a couple of hours later two more of the dogs that are well known to eat shit started puking and shitting liquid chocolate all over the place.

So we put those two dogs in kennels in the quarantine room too, and removed every other dog in daycamp and on that side of the building and moved them to kennels another seperate side of the building. Then we had to wash every bed, towel, food dish and water bowl in the kennels and playrooms on that side of the building (80 kennels) and disinfect the entire building, walls floors and everything, with quat and bleach. We were at war with the damn sickness from 3pm until 9:30, and thats just when I got off work, they were still working like mad to clean the place when I left.

Probably THE most stressful day at work in my life. God I wish I had some valium...
