*Updated * fuzz in fruiting chamber on cakes
    #8223667 - 04/01/08 09:53 AM (16 years, 19 days ago)

In my fruiting chamber my cakes are starting to get fuzzy. It is a white fuzz and happened over night. Is there anything I can do, have no pics at this time. Have searched the forum and came up with little. My cakes are brf rolled in verm. Thanks

Here is a pic I was able to take this morning. Still the same thoughts?

That's completely normal.
It's the mycelium spreading through the verm, "reaching" into the air.

Don't worry, you're cakes are fine!

make sure your humidity is perfect for your specific strain, i noticed when my humidity droped to low fuzz grew on the cakes and on the stems

First of all, all cubes are grow under the same grow parameters. There's no strain that requires more humidity than another!

Second, the fuzz on the stems is also normal and nothing to really care about.

WHEW, OK. I thought maybe it was fuzzy mold or something. I do not have pins yet. But my cakes smell like a delightful mushroom garden. They where completely colonized before going into the chamber and looked very healthy. They are P.Cub. so I will go try to find the right humidity. If anything it is for sure not low humidity. The humidity stays between 95 and 100 on my gauge.

Thanks for all the info.  By the way, NICE strain guide!!  Loved it.  I am guessing at this point the cakes should fight off most everything, but did not know that for sure when it came to stuff growing on the outside of the cake:mushroom2:

My Texas Goliath bruised a lot like yours, very greenish bluish I'd say, really pretty actually:thumbup:

Huh... Well this looks indeed like cobweb.

Wait and look it it turns more gray (fine black spots on it).
Weird, Cobweb is very rare on cakes

You could also scrape it off and see if new appears.

I'm not quiet sure. This is always hard to tell from pics, but it sure looks a lot like CW.

was affraid of that, had also found that it is rare on cakes . Will scrape it off and see if it returns, if it returns does that mean it's cobweb? Should I dig into the cake to get it or just scrape off the top? Thanks

I just read that it will take over a hole casing in one to two days, if this ir always the case then I might be safe. It has gotten this big over a two day period. Am I right or wrong?

Hit it with dilute H2O2. Cube myc can withstand it no problem, cobweb will die. Easy.
