CFLs will yield just fine - what they won't do is penetrate your canopy. Build yourself a scrog and you'll be all set.

Edit: I believe that as long as your 'night' is less than 12 hours it won't make a significant difference. For that matter you don't ever need to turn the lights off when they're vegging.

As for the sunlight: yes, more light is nearly always good but if light is getting in it can get out... meaning that you now have a greater chance of the wrong person seeing your babies. For my money I'd keep em hidden, and throw the lights on for 24 hours/day until you're ready to go to 12/12.

Yeah, that'd work. But I really can't say enough in favor of the scrog. :bigjoint:

No better way to get your bang for the buck in a small space or with small numbers of plants.

what works really well with cfls is lowryder hybrids
they stay short enough that you dontt have to worry about penetrating the canopy leaves

How's Lowryder's potency/taste/high? I've heard that it's got some potency issues because of it's genetics (ruderalis)

Lowryder is not the most potent strain but definately decent and worth smoking. Just yesterday some heavyduty smokers compimented my LR even tho I don't think it as VERY GOOD smoke :smile: I'd say the peak of high ain't very long lasting tho.

I wouldn't grow it tho unless there is serious space issue or extensive outdoor grow in very northern or southern latitudes.

im not talking about lowryder though
im talking about hybrids
the hybrids are almost the same quality as the original strain, and it gets the short stature of the lowryder
lowlife is about to release a lot of new strains hes been working on, look him up on doc chronic, his stuff will be back in stock in a week or so

I grow in my closet with a 125w CFL. The latest generation of CFLs are good. In my 8.5 sq ft closet I yield approx. 2.5 ounces of fine smoke every 2 months.

It is true that CFls do not penetrate the canopy well, but you don't have to harvest the entire plant. You could also prune down to one or two leads, or bend the plants. I don't do any of that though. I just harvest it all when the trichomes on the top buds are just turning amber.

Why anyone would grow lowryder indoors is beyond me. It was developed for guerilla growing.

Let me just clear something up, you don't mean that when you flower you're going to have an irregularly scheduled dark period right?

Having the light on from 7-7 one day and then from 11-11 the next day isn't acceptable, although if you hit within a half hour each way of a regular schedule you'll be fine.
