Stressing Lowryder #2 Plants
    #8018999 - 02/13/08 07:13 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

So my friend has 5 of these, and they started flowering as expected, but now he is wondering if he can stress them by turning the lights off and on at random times, he was hoping this will cause them to turn into he shes so that he can get some seeds from the plants, which was the initial plan.

Will this work?

No turning the lights like that will just hurt the plants and will produce less bud. If he wants seeds he should get a separate growing room and put a male and a female together. Did he buy femenized seeds? because he should have males and females, typically.

If you stress your plants to become hermi's they will produce FAR less quality bud and all the seeds from the hermi's will be hermi's.

hope this helps.

I don't want bud, I want seeds, I read that turning them into hermies helps the plants pollinate each other causing them to produce seeds, and these seeds take on the characteristics of the plants, and because they are all female, they said the seeds would be female only but like you said they have a risk of being hermies, but you can always remove those when you want bud.

never mind, I looked it up, guess im fucked, I'll have to buy some more seeds I think, I wanted some seeds for the summer.

if a hermie is crossed with any other plant it will only produce hermie seeds. creating feminized seeds is a quite elaborate process and can take years to acomplish, and every year to get those same seeds the oringinall female and stressed pollen must be crossed again.

HERMIES are UNWANTED

Why would you not want bud and just want seeds ? I have never heard anyone say that before in my life.

Don't give advice When yore way out of your field. Only genetically caused hermaphroditicity is heritable, stresses females that develop male genitalia will not have higher ratio of hermaphroditic offspring.

you cant clone the Lowryder so if you want to have more harvests later on you need more seeds, so producing seeds will get you more plants and you wouldn't have to buy of the website again.

damn, that's what i should be growing. the only reason i didn't order those seeds is because of the $100 price, but in all seriousness, that's what i should be growing, it stays low, and you can plant like 100 of them.

peace

fuck that bro... considering all of these plants are female turn them into mother plants till summer you will have hundred of clones... and they are going to be much more branchy than the one from the seeds = more bud for you

autoflowering is a trait by which cannabis flowers based on its age, rather than the light cycle

if youre a commercial grower, you dont want to mess with lowryder hybrids because they cant be cloned (actually they technically can, but they dont go back into the vegetative stage, so u just get a rooted branch not a new plant) relatively small yields (good hybrids under ideal conditions yield about 1-1.5 oz) and because you have to grow them from seed

it is, however, very convenient to a grower who is limited in their space, specifically micro indoor growers (it was actually made for indoor, and people adopted it for outdoor) as it doesnt necessarily need hid lights (several t8's will do) and no need for a totally enclosed environment in order to keep a specific light cycle, not to mention that theyre small and easy to keep between "innocent" plants to conceal them

basically if you smoke in moderation, (once or twice a week) lowryder hybrids would be a cool houseplant to have around, but if you go through eighths like so much tissue, id suggest their larger counterparts, im personally planning on getting some hindu kush lowryder hybrids, and growing them 3-5 at a time

hybrids of lowryder can produce just as high quality bud as the original strain

I have to ask, are the auto flowering strain superior when it comes to outdoor growing in northern climates? I figured since they should be budding in the middle of the summer rather then in the fall, so there would be better light during that crucial of flowering.

So would LR hybrids grow better where seasons are short?
