Bud - 2 plants in a 5 gallon?
    #2915973 - 07/22/04 02:39 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

My friend has a plant, about a 1.5 feet tall and another that is about 8 inches. They are both budding ( i know its funny sine the one is so small). Would it be OK to put both in one 5 gallon? He doesnt' want to get more lights or anything.

Thanks

I wouldn't want to mess up the root systems(However, I'm not even sure if it would).. I don't know how that'd work, two plants in one 5 gallon? If your friend wants to get a decent yeild then he should do a little homework.
Did he force the little 8" to bud or was it involuntary. Well either way, good luck to your friend. Hopefully he gets smokables..

Sounds like an accidental grow, seeing as they are so small and already flowering they should be left however they are now.

He put the big one in a new pot, so the other can't stay in the light anymore unless its in the same pot...

an 8 inch plant cant need more than, what a gallon pot? Unless the roots are crazy big, which would make sense if the plant was crazy big as well. (assuming no topping, LST, FIM, or any other training)

put it in a small one and figure out a way to fit it in.

Moving them is going to shock them, and you dont want to do that when they are flowering.

Camel is right, leave them the way they are now.

I think that his friend's problem is that there is not enough room in the area where flowering is occuring unless they put the 8" plant in the same 5 gal. pot as the 18" plant, right? I would say, go for it since it is only 8" after all, unless they want to throw it back into veg and let it get bigger. But, yeah, it seems to me that whatever they do is gonna stress the plant out. A 5 gal. bucket will support a (probably very rootbound)10' tall plant, so there should be more than enough root space for 2 plants that small.

putting them in the same pot would cause them to compete. it also would lead to the smaller plant being shaded out by the larger. basically either keep them in seperate pots or get rid of one. cause more plants doesnt mean more weed with pot.

If you transplant right there should be no stress, work out the sides then put out the bottom and tilt out the rootball holding the stem. Also it depends on how bad it needs the transplant. My friend grew a WW in a one gal pot since he didnt have the space and a good 2-3 weeks into flower he transplanted into a 2 gal and he noticed increased bud production.

If it's either a DWC grow or a soil grow the only thing you might need would be more nute's.

and for max yeild do a scrog grow.

I liek LST over scrog since its better looking and more versitile. you can shape the canopy better then havinga flat scrog screen, not saying you cant make a bowl screen but id rather have a few strings hidden under the canopy then an ugly screen in your face.

yea, you've got a point. string is much easier to work with as well.
I've been topping my plants, and tieing down the two top buds,
