Have you ever tried to top the plant early, meaing cutting off the stem above the bottom two leaves, I just did that to a couple pepper plants, I had, to try to make their support better, and concentrate on elongating the bottom leaves, maybe i fucked up, but just asking if you do this.

Nice tomato plant hehe
I harvested my 2 plants at the beginning of the holidays, April 16th, well not all at once I did 4 harvests where I got a couple of oz wet and slow drie some, quick dried the rest in the oven on 50'c.
I started both my plants indoors late last august and planted them out for early September(Spring), conceiled amongst mums exotic plants in the middle of the yard which ended up being taller than my friend we call "lanky" hes about 6-7fh, and skinny to the shit house.:). It started budding a couple of days after christmass and contunued to harvest 2 months later, and boy was i parranoid about neighbors, some days I would have to do covert missions just to water and fertilize the bastards at 3 in the morning.
The strict weekly watering and nutes payed off, total I measured 3/4lb(dry) off the 6fter, 3oz off the smaller one. Made $1200 from selling, smoked, cooked and made hash out of the rest. I ahvent been with out money since.
Good luck and u dont have males.

sweetning up the soil by mixing a little lime in will make sure its a female in most cases, if your keen, a good trick is to just twist the tops of the stems at their tips not so you break them off, but so you bruise them, this causes them to repair themselves with a much thicker stem, so that when bud time begins, the branches dont buckle under the weight, and also the buds can get HUGE because there is so much more nutrients available, it is def. a good trik

Lime should not make a plant more often female than male. Male and female are genetic traits. It is possible to sometimes make a plant go hermaphrodite, which is undesirable. The only way to get female plants consistantly is to find a female hemaphrodite or by feminized seeds. These seem to be created by treating the seeds with a horome (more than likely a mutanegin) which cannot be good.

have you actually substantiated your claim? It is a common technique used to increase the likelihood of femininity.

this will increase the likelyhood of female plants just like milk and dairy products will increase the likelyhood of having a female baby...you think people pay the extra $60-100+ dollars for femminized seeds for no reason? if it was as easy as adding lime then there wold be no need for femminized seeds... this is just a myth my friend...the genetics are already determined when the seed is born and we have no conrol over that unless you are a profound botanist with much knowledge about growing like the seed bank vendors....sorry.........

I agree with strang. Changing environmental factors is very minor in the developement of a plant or any other organism for that matter. Also I would like to see any evidence of your claim. All research that I have done on producing female plant has never indicated that alkaline soil changes the genetic makeup of a plant. If anything, if the soil is too alkaline, the plant will not develope properly. The same can occur with very acidic soil.

"The only way to get female plants consistantly is to find a female hemaphrodite...."

all seeds from hermaphrodite will grow up to be hermies as well.

Not necessarily. A female plant that goes hermaphrodite and pollinated by the male flowers that have appeared will produce female seeds as they will only have female genetic material. Here is a quote from a reilable source of information.

A plant that should be exclusively female may bear an occasional male flower....The pollen from this isolated male flower on a female plant has only X chromosomes, the genes for female plants. By cafefully collecting the pollen fromthis male flower and pollenating female flowers (which carry only X chromosomes), all the resulting seed will yeild prospectively female plants (XX chromosomes). --Marijuana Grower's Insider's Guide p.296

In nature, in all female or all male populations, gender can change and the individual will pass on the original characteristics that were present before the change.

There is a hormone called gibberellic acid, and it will cause a female plant to become a hermaphrodite. This is a very easy way to get all female seeds. To force male flowers to form on a female plant, spray it with a solution of 100ppm (.01%) gibberellic acid in water every day for five days as soon as the plant begins to flower.
