That is not the point at all.

If he wants to regain his relationship with his parents...he HAS to go to some type of rehab.

I'm not really addicted to anything in particular I was a daily opiate user before I moved back in with my parents since then I've only used opiates like 5 or 6 times. I've kicked cigarettes on my own will power a few times for over a year once. I go back to them during really stressful times though.

People are so naive about drugs. They believe all the scare tactics they hear. I doubt they'd listen, but the only thing you can do with people like that is educate them on facts. Most likely though, they won't have it. I let my ex convince me once all drugs except for weed are bad. Well I've tried a few things since we've split (shrooms, MDMA) and I have never had such a wonderful experience in all my life. It really opened my eyes. I am a mother and I function a totally normal life - happy, healthy, very well taken care of child, full time job, pay all my bills on time and have money saved away. So for anyone to say someone is a "junkie" because they do any drug is ridiculous. Abusing drugs is bad, not using them at all.

I think you just need to do your own thing and when your parents see you're healthy, happy and doing well for yourself they will kind of lay off, even if they still think the way they do.

Nah I see they're concerned but also I don't want to fuck up this semester of school either and I think the place my dad wants to make me go is over an hour one direction from where I stay and I already drive an hour 3 times a week the other direction to go to school and I barely have enough time as it is for all my homework.

No kid follows in the EXACT path their parents want. They always do SOMETHING(S) they wouldn't approve of. Not only that, most parents who say they don't condone drug use have probably done drugs themselves. It's kind of ironic because they probably had some really wicked fun times on drugs, but don't want their children to experience that because it's not "socially acceptable" and they feel like a failure as a parent. My boyfriend's father said something to my boyfriend that really made me think - he said no matter how much crap they went through with him growing up, all they care about was that things turned out okay in the end. He has a good job and a steady life now. That's all that matters. And he's only 22 so it's not like it took a lifetime to achieve.
