Well Florida is the place to look right now.

Not much happening in the good old Pacific Northwest today. There are some shrooms up but the psilocybes here are gopne for a few months and then some blue ringers will appear in the warm spring rains and from the automated water sprinklers in gardens and office lawns will produce nice blue ringer collections.

Hello!

I found an old cow field which was well manured no fences so i decided to search it. I paced back and forth through the feild for about 30 minutes and i eventually came upon a patch of psilocybe cubensis growing thick! i collected about 70-80 healthy medium sized cubensis they are drying right now. once the mushrooms are dried i am going to package them and send them to a friend of mine up north. it was fun picking them but i do not plan on eating any of them. i have my own pan cyans i grew my self! i am so proud!

Mjshroomer - I see you are very familiar with the pacific northwest and I'm in northern california

Exactly what is fruiting right now and in what conditions? You've mentioned B.Ringers out of lawns and gardens..Are they fruiting straight from dirt/soil are do they need other fertilizers? Also, when will the pan. subbalteatus be fruiting out of the hay stacks

a reply would be highlt appreciated!

I only mentioned the spring appearance of Psilocybe stuntzii in lawns during the warm springs and from automated sprinkler systems in apartment condos and such, new restaurants with new sod. And I only mention it because there are now reports of P. stuntzii (blue ringers) in and North of San Francisco. So it is possible they could be in single locations between Frisco and Oregon where they ae now common West of and between I-5 highway and Highway 1 from Bandon, Oregon to British Columbia and of course a sperinkler to simulate rainfall.

The Panaeolus subbalteatus can be found in and around Eugen to Corvalis in Oregon in rotted hay from the middle of February through May but not during the real hot summer months. Then a short appearance in the late fall after the first rains and before it gets real cold.

Wow sean. Thats alot of shrooms. 70-80? In one big patch? In only a half hour? Wow. Wowie Zowie. Thats more than I usually find when the cubes actually Are in season, let alone in this almost unbearable cold(and Im about five hours further south than you). Hasnt Panama City been getting frosted over every morning for the past few days.? Wow. Sounds kinda fishy to me.?

no frost here in panama city actually it was rather warm and sunny this afternoon and it had rained hard a few nights before. i did not have a camera with me when i found the patch which was hidden under tall grass. i will get some film for my polaroid camera and take pictures of the shrooms themselves before i send them up north. i will post the pictures as soon as i figure out how the scanner works. the shrooms were growing densely on a large patch of well manured soil. i will go back in a few days with my camera and snap a few pictures of the field i found them in etc. i am going to check out another field as well. peace.

It is raining heavily right now it is 9:45 AM Friday, January 28, 2000. if the sun comes out and it warms up this afternoon and is warm and sunny tomorrow after noon I might have a good chance of finding more shrooms in the same place I foudn them yesterday. :smile:

Hi Sean,
I found a good amount of p cubes today around lunchtime. They must have just came up today because most of the veils hadnt broke loose yet. None the less, they are some good looking mushrooms. I found patches of seven, three, two, two, two, two and one, in about a half hour. That wave of cold air and winds that came through kept those little guys underground for about a week... but they sure didnt waste much time on popping up again to see the sun.

Maybe you guys are jaded from living down there for so long, but do you realize how *lucky* you are? Or maybe it's just that I'm a newbie... but I think that if I found 70 cubies outdoors, I wouldn't need to eat them because I'd be tripping just from the excitement!

*mj- I'll be in Sacremento and Frisco and then down to Ensenada (by car) the 2nd week of March... if you were in my position, where would you do a little hunting during that time?
