it just depends on where you live i pay 30 a month for 10Mbps but this service is only available in 3 states

But I get a lot of service slowdowns, even in the offtimes.

do you guys know of a decent legit sites to check which broadband services are available in the area? every one i find on google is just some shitty spam site trying to get my email address.

well i checked yellowbook.com and there ended up being quite a few entries, but most of them were for networking solutions, and i didn't feel like googling each and every company name to figure out if they were an ISP or a networking solution company.

Check with your local cable service provider - they usually offer Internet service as well.
If not, then you can look into DSL.

right, i already have internet through the local cable service provider (roadrunner via time warner cable). but i want to know what other services are available in the area and see how they compare. mainly because i've hear through word of mouth that TWC is going to change their pricing plan over to a pay-per-amount-dloaded kind of thing, and i REALLY don't want an ISP contract like that.

Actually it is wireless.....11Mbps on the low end. But it usually stays low. Matter of fact I am calling them right now.
