Looking for cheap internet.

Whats up pub. Im in the market for internet at my home, im finding good deals, like 9.99 for Hi-Speed internet. But this is Dial up how fast could be be right? Anyone useing this Hi-Speed Dialup everyone offers, if so how fast is it? - Do you tihnk i should go with SBC Yahoo! DSL for $14.99 instead? (I cant afford cable modem :frown: ) ?

Bellsouth is just $24.99 a month. 

...but, generally with any provider there is a shitload of hidden fees.

When I first got this one from Altell, it was $29.99 a month.  With so many extra "service" fees, its not about $44.99 a month.

Good luck finding a provider that won't fuck you up the ass.  :crazyeyes:

That was my logic, but yes it runs thru ur 56K but claims to be faster than basic dial up. Like NetZero and Inbox internet - they have Hi-Speed?

yea, i dunno about that netzero 3g or whatever its called... it cant be that fast.

id just go with sbc dsl. its only 5$ more and is definately alot better. that what i got and im happy with it. :stoned:

What they do is they compress the images so that the webpage loads faster. That's why it's "fast"

I'm pretty happy with my Frontier DSL, which is $29.99 a month with no hidden fees. That's what I'm billed for, and that's what I pay!
I used to have Charter Cable, but they added so many "service and access" fees that it came in around $60 a month! :eek:

Sweet guys, thanks for the help. I e-mailed their tech. rep. about hi speed and what makes it fast so it will be interesting to see what they say. As for DSL it looks like the way to go. SBC Yahoo! DSL says its not available in my area, but is in my dads (we live 2 blocks away from eachother so im callin a bitch about that :frown:) I could do that with the WiFi  but for one) i live in the ghetto lol so i doubt no one has a wireless connection 2) I dont have a wireless adaptor/Wireless Laptop (kuz im a broke motha!)

look into what your tv cable provider has - usually they pretty affordable cable internet packages that go along with your tv. they will usually rent you a modem for a buck extra per month...

I do have to warn you, once you go broadband, you'll never go back to 56k.

other than that, "high-speed" dial up is a joke - just a caching system.

I've heard good things about http://getnetscape.com/

Hell yeah trust me man, i dont want dial up at all. Im on a network at work when im on here (i think a T1) But its really fast. I just cant downlaod i have no sound, and that sucks man its what i love to do on the net (well other than the shroomery you guys get me thru)- And my cable provider charges out the ass anyhow they have a "Deal" going on for $30 cable internet it goes up after 6 months. But its fast 3mb/3mb
