Quickly, cut of the mold,go deeper then it really is, using a knife soaked in alcohol. Spray the cake with a light dusting of H2O/2%H2O2. Place the cake in a presterillized jar and shut it with a ps verm layer and lid. Let it recover for a few days.

bahh that sounds like a risky operation for my well being and my baby :[ can't i just wait till it's fully colonized?? then cut it out it doesn't seem to be spreading at all and the myc is kinda growing over it? can i wait till it's done then cut n give it a light mist on that spot with H20/H202???

Sure, but remember this. Even if the mycelium grows over the mold, the mold will still be three and it will end up in your mushies. Peace

make sure you cut a considerable amount of the cake off... the mold spreads easily.

That is absolute nonesense. Don't spread disinformation. Molds are fungi. Mushroom mycelium is fungi. Different types of fungi live together in nature, and mushrooms do not 'suck up' molds.
Toss your jars. They're contaminated. You can't save them by cutting and peroxide, bleach or anything else. In addition, cutting into black mold can be fatal if you breathe the spores. Toss the unopened jars. RR

I've gotta say, although you could probably still eat shrooms off that cake if they grew... don't mess with black mold. Throw them away.

Especially with a child in the home, don't do it. Try again next time.

yea listen to anything RR says...ive only been on this forum a month or so and if theres one thing ive learned...its that rogerabbit knows what the fuck hes talkin about and if he says it theres a 99.9% chance hes right and i would just toss the jar...EXPECIALLY if you have a kid in the house...i have a 17 month old daughter and i dont let her anywhere near anything that has to do with my shrooms because of the risk of her getting something bad from a contam and also to avoid accidental consumption

I had the same problem the other day, and decided to have a little fun. I popped out the cake, literally chopped an entire half of it off (the mold wasn't over the whole half, just a little damage control), and set up a casing on the fly with straight verm and the good looking half. I don't care if anyone thinks it was a dumb move nor do I really mind if it fails totally. But I am alive, took precautions to not inhale the spores (and there were visibly none), and am just curious to see if it pulls though.

lemme know if it does i was thinkin about doing that cause the black spots only at the bottom of it (bottom as in by the dry verm layer) so i still got 3/4 of a fully colonized cake and i was gunna mix it up with straight verm too haha and see if it pulls threw :]

the problem with doing this...... is that your still in the colonization phase... when you cut on it... it weakens and you most definatley will not get it too fruit.... but miracles do happen i guess
