You might be able to DL Photoshop for free, but you are going to need to buy a fucking book to learn how to use it.
Look for something with a lower learning curve. Photoshop takes a pretty good amount of time to figure out how to use it correctly.

try Paint Shop pro. yea with torrents, servers on mIRC and p2p software. everything is free, its amazing how many millions of people are still out there paying for all their software, music, books, games and so on. They really need to be informed about torrents, mIRC and p2p before more billions of dollars are spent of cd's and dvd's. When I'm at Best Buy and similar stores i usually tell people about torrents that are looking at multimedia to buy.

While I download (pirate!) every piece of software I own, I strongly disagree.
As a poor student trying to learn new technology and programs, piracy is about the only way. But when you're older and have money, buy a damn license! Software developers do need money...

what happens when people stop making music and movies because they aren't making money from it? not that I give a shit, just something to think about. there will always be people that will pay for their cd's and stuff, but probably not many in the future.

Well, luckily, legitimate businesses get fucked big time if they are found using anything pirated
Balances out for the home user, I guess.

Stizzle was right to suggest the gimp for the requested "free download of something like a Photoshop". Other than some trial something or another, I don't think the exact syntax of the request can be better served.
Photoshop is it for image editing. I haven't bothered to use anything past my legally licensed version 6.0. It does everything I think I could ever need from an image editor.
Is Jasc PaintShop Pro still being bundled with various digital hardware? I'd be suprised to see that Photoshop Elements hadn't won out on brand recognition alone.

nah, i think they have already made enough money. why continue to put millions of dollars to the movie industry, music industry, recording industry, actors, ect. Its better to put your hard earned money to better causes then paying for everything that can be downloaded for free.
