I have two compost cakes I innoculated some time ago and forgot about in my half pint jars. I was planning on putting them in a cont. and casing but they seemed to hold their form so well I thought I would expierament a little. Will my cakes crumble with maturing mushies? Or do you think the rhizos will hold the cakes? I think they will fall but we will all know soon! They have started pinning! One is B+ the other is PESA. Both were double end cased. The B+ is showing strong Rhizos on top and pin sets around the bottom and sides. See

Do you mean put them in the compost?

Ted: "Uh yeah, and I got you this paper bag to stop you from looking like James Brown in the Morning."
Darlene: "Oh come now, I don't look anything like James Brown."
Ted: "Hey kids, who does your mom look like in the morning?"
Kids... in unison: "James Brown!"
Darlene, "All right, thats enough... It's poison spaghetti for dinner tonight."

Wal-Mart compost and manure mixed half and half with fresh cow patties They stayed in the jars for prob 2weeks after fully colonizing And no the cakes are compost double end cased with vermiculite. Now I am trying to fruit using the PF cake method. Maybe I should have crumbled them and cased but I was curious. If they do collapse I gues I could try to salvage and case like regular compost methods.

Actually my casing is a mix vermiculit and almost 1/4 of it is hydrated lime. And double end is just as it says. Top and bottom. Most of the time for the bottom casing I simply put pre moistened casing mix in a canning lid and set my cake on it. then case the top. Hope this sheds some light on the subject for you!
