Hydra-pod help
    #799658 - 08/06/02 08:43 AM (21 years, 7 months ago)

Hi i am first of all a newbie to growing. I recently purchased a hydra-pod, and a bag of their coco-based substrate. After reading the directions they sent, the one's on their tek page (www.hydra-pod.com) and also some directions from their support i am still confused with how to go about this. Everything i read seems to have a little bit of a variation and i would like to get this right.

The problems i am having are before i even birth the cakes into the pod. I also have a package of brown rice flower (bought from a health shop), 12 half pint jars, and a syringe bought from sporeworks.com.

Ok from what i have understand these are the steps i need to take.

Put Brf in a 1 qt jar.
Inject all the spore into the brf.
Let it sit for 24 hours.
After that mix that with the hydrated coco-substrate and put those into 12 half pint jars and let to sit for 5-7 days.
Then after they are ready, birth them into the pod.

Pleas correct me where i'm wrong or add correct directions. I also have additional questions, which may be answered with correct directions.

1. Will i need to use a pressure cooker?
2. Do i innoculate all the spores into the 1 qt jar?or multiple half pint jars?
3. How much brf should i use?
4. Should i let the brf sit before i inject the spores?
5. Should the jars contain anything besides the brf when innocluted?
6. Once the spores are injected into the brf what kind of conditions are needed for it to grow. Also for how long?

Thanks! I appreciate any assistance!

Follow the PF Tek. You can reach it by clicking here. Once the jars are 100% colonized, stick them in the Hydra-Pod and wait.

Peace

You have to follow a tek just like everyone else. Read over the PF tek and follow it.

He wants to use BRF. Picking up a bag of vermiculite isn't too much trouble. He can save the coir for casing a bulk substrate -- something he would not want to use the Hydra-Pod for.

I wouldn't want to use coir in a BRF cake for use in a Hydra-Pod. Is this something you would recommend?

why did you try and help the guy with the hyda-pod when you def. dont know a damn thing about it...ive gotten my best results with myco-teks coco coir substrate in the pod. the coir substrate makes brf cakes look like shit...the flushes you get off these cakes are insane.

First, what crawled up your ass and died? Coming across as an asswipe really helps you get your point across, eh?

Second, when I read his post, it sounded like he was about to screw his entire batch. I pointed him to the PF Tek which is idiot proof and will perform well in the Hydra-Pod. Additionally, I stated that I personally would not use coir in a cake, but asked if this was something that was recommended. If you have forgotten already, here is EXACTLY what I stated:
I wouldn't want to use coir in a BRF cake for use in a Hydra-Pod. Is this something you would recommend?
Concerning the Hydra-Pod, I have a very good understanding of how and why it works.

Go crawl back under your rock.

Myco-tek replied back and was very thorough with the directions and i understand it completely now, so all my questions are answered. One more thing though. Can anyone suggest a good place to buy pre-steralized brf or rye grain?

Thanks

I would suggest purchasing a pressure cooker or canner. This will save you much money in the long run. Otherwise, try here: Dung Bros.

As you can see, two packages of sterilized rye is $20. You can buy a pressure cooker for that much. Rye itself is VERY cheap.
