Last month 15-year-old Cody Webb was arrested and incarcerated in a juvenile detention facility after his school, Hempfield Area High School, claimed that he called in a bomb threat at 3.17am on March 11th.
Webb was called into the principal's office and accused of making the threat after his phone number was matched. Webb protested his innocence and the principal said, "Well, why should we believe you? You're a criminal. Criminals lie all the time."
12 days later someone at the school realised that daylight saving started that night and while Webb had indeed called the students hotline it had been an hour before the bomb threat. All the charges against him have been dropped.

before they started using the internete - teachers record homework assignments on answering machines for students to call and listne to to get the problems.

i still think its fucked up they can put a kid in juvenile just because they called a phone number and "5" minutes later (really an hour and 5 minutes) someone else calls in a bomb threat. just because its 5 minutes apart doesn't mean he did it. who cares about daylight savings time.

He should sue the bejesus out of them. School systems need money, but they also need to stop pulling shit like this. If they like their funding they should pull their heads out of their asses, pay attention to "little details" like the correct time, and examine how fucked up the three words "zero tolerance policy" are.
