I hurted my thumb at work

and they laughed at me. meanies.

I was at my little part time gig stocking the cooler... and a 12-pack of Coke fell right onto the tip of my thumb, smashing it into the top of another stack of 12 packs.

it hurt really bad and I literally saw stars when it happened. then I walk up to the check stand where the manager is and I start to tell him what happened then I start feeling really light-headed and clammy. so I had to sit down like on the floor and they were laughing at me. well, I was kinda laughing too, so it wasn't that bad. I was laughing at myself b/c I thought I was going to pass out over a smashed thumb. after a couple minutes I felt better and my thumb is gnarly shades of black and blue under my nail. I'm pissed off b/c I just started learning a few finger picking songs on the guitar today at lessons, and now I don't know if I can play them... at least for the next couple days.

aw man speaking of thumb injuries, I had a pretty nasty accident on the meat slicer at work this week. I sliced off about the top 1/4 inch of my thumb and ended up in the clinic down the road, fully decked out with my apron and everything. healing will be a bitch :doh:

you have my sympathy.. ive gotten my thumb slammed in a car door and i felt like crying from the pain. and you know what, if i wasnt with my mates i wouldve!

I think everyones had a smashed toe or finger...just part of living. But yours did sound really bad. It should heal quickly.

the slicer I was using tends to jam, so the guard doesn't lower to flatten whatever it is you're slicing. at the time, I had my hand positioned so that I could use my thumb to push the guard down as I sliced the last sliver of cheese, and obviously I wasn't being very careful because my thumb slipped off just far enough to clip the blade.

the pain wasn't too bad, I indulged in a liberal amount of MJ when I got home and forgot all about the gaping fleshwound underneath the bandages in front of me :bigblunt:

Ah dude that sucks. I was drunk one night and on my way to a club in Brooklyn... Had to run into some place to take a piss. My friends had to go too, so one of them tells me to hurry up and slams the door... while my index finger was in the door jam. Blood started coming out from under my nail and I got the same shades of funky black and blue. Got blood all over my nice shirt and pants. Needless to say, there was no club that night.

Is your thumb swollen and painful as hell today? Mine was so swollen that I had to lance it to let out the pressure, which sucked, but it felt a lot better afterwards. I was just glad I didn't loose the nail.

I lost feeling in the tip of my finger for about a month and it took about a month and a half for the nasty nail to grow out and look normal again. This all happened back in the beginning of December and my nail is still growing funky (has a bump in the middle).

this thread makes me not feel like eating

got a nice scar tho from seein who could hold out the longest with a ciggerette burning on our arms, the next day tha bubble was jus primed to pop, besides the hot grills at work that aggravated it wasnt as bad, jus gettin the thing was a high in its own, tryin to unfocus the pain as it sizzled wouldve required some nirvana like meditations all i can say, plus the fact i did it twice in the same spot didnt help...

Totally off topic, but that reminds me of an evil trick my friend told me about.

He offered to pay someone $50 if they held a dollar bill flush against their skin and burned a hole through the bill with a cigarette. Turns out it is impossible to burn through the dollar while it's against your skin. The other person just ended up with a bad burn and no extra money.
