RFID chips. Soon they are everywhere, not just in our pets, passports and consumer products, but maybe even in our bodies.
Some clubs already have RFID-chipped their VIP customers and according to the Bible next stop is implanted RFID chips for all our financial transactions
Quote:
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. . Revelations 13:16-17
RFID chips are amazing things. Most of them are passive circuits activated by the scanner signal, which powers them and makes them respond with their programmed data. No battery needed. Problem is ofcourse that whoever has a good scanner is able to coerce information from you you might not like to give voluntarily.
And, as it now turns out, they can be hacked, and programmed with a virus or worm which affects the software and system behind the scanner.
A hacker who loves cats could put a virus in his cats RFID, have his cat scanned and later on all stray kitties will be delivered to his doorstep as their RFIDs are reprogrammed stating him as their owner
Or a pennypinching hacker could alter the RFID of a supermarket item and assure that the next day the prices of that supermarket cannot be beat
In other words, Mayhem. Read all about it in the PDF and linked site, and let's discuss.

i wish i could stop this. but i know the dumbed down majority will easily accept this. the elite will put some positive spin on it and the people will soak it up like the zombies that they are. scary part is it will be very difficult to survive if you don't have one.

Death would be the only way out. I choose death over a damn chip any day. Death is the ultimate trip!

You people have done too many drugs. It's just technology. Afraid of change?

i would never allow one of these chips in my body and i would most certainly be able to survive without one.

I think it would be nice actually. You'd never have to carry a wallet, and you would always have all the information you needed (literally) in the palm of your hand. It could facilitate a lot of things.
All they would need to do is make them "write only". The only information actually stored on the chip is my identity. The "real" information is stored on a central server somewhere. Similar to an ATM card. My actual banking information is stored on a secure, central server; the ATM card only lets me access it. The same concept applies to your personal chip. You could even secure it with a similar PIN number.

I have known myself in a way I doubt I would have ever occurred except as it did. Smith, P. Bull. Menninger Clinic (1959) 23:20-27; p. 27. ...most subjects find the experience valuable, some find it frightening, and many say that is it uniquely lovely. Osmond, H. Eventually all humans will be born with a whole colony of nanites. And people will look back at those who resisted and laugh at their ignorance. Ignorance like those who thought they would lose their soul if they had a heart transplant in the generation before ours.
Quote:
You people have done too many drugs. It's just technology. Afraid of change?
Well said. Fortunately the youth routinely reject the fears and superstitions of the old generations.
I personally would love to have as many chips, robots and circuitry in my body as I saw fit. It would increase the length and quality of my life.
This could easily be interpreted as a natural point where consciousness changes the process of evolution and selection. Now instead of a reactive, random process where those who procreate introduce small changes in a species we have a proactive deliberate process where the evolved ability of consciousness and the laws of nature can radically change a species in a much shorter time. But that is how evolution has worked all along hasnt it? It started out slow and laborious and then exploded in a frenzy of change. With technology incorporated into our bodies (and particularly our minds) we, as a species, can explore new avenues of thought, consciousness and redefine what it means to be human.
I wish I could live to see it.
