Best way to convert .mkv to .iso or .avi ?

Anyone know any reliable methods?
I've done some software searching
and everything with a free trial wont let me convert
this .mkv movie that i downloaded.

I know that basically i have to extract the two files from the .mkv file.
One for video (avi usually) and one for audio (mp3).
So, does anyone have any experience with this?

are you using a pc or mac?

btw - avi is audio + video
hence AudioVideoInterleave

.iso is a full CD/DVD image - it has nothing to do with video formats.

If you want to convert one type of video to another, then try Super Video
