there's so much info there i'm not really gonna explain it all. basically you're wasting time and dvd's to burn .avi to dvd.(that's what you're doing right?) if you want some .avi files you have to work on a stand alone, burn (s)vcd's and save money. reason being .avi quality is crap. they also look way better on a computer than they would a tv because of how the codec works, it kinda filters and adds info (simple way to explain) if you wanna try out your new burner go rent some dvds. but that site has all the info you need if you still wanna do it.

There's a thin line between sanity and insanity... and I just snorted it.

i agree and disagree. have you used the "picvideo mjpeg lossless" compressor ? or any lossless compressors? They do a pretty damn good job of preserving quality. avi or otherwise.

but of course if the quality is crappy to start with then there really is no hope making it look better.

womble is slow as hell at high res settings but it seems to work. Additonaly "virtuadub" works and is pretty simple to understand.

DVD Santa......you will still have to pay special attention to your audio conversion, but it works and is also simple.
