so this is the first time harvesting from my monotub and i noticed when i twist and pull the mature mushrooms out there are a bunch of little pins attached to the bottom of the mushroom with some of the casing material.
are these my pins for my second flush?
how do you guys usually harvest?
i just dont want to be losing mushrooms that could possibly be forming on my second flush.
thanks guys.

thats what hyphae says in his pinning strategy post.. that subsequent flushes are created in your initial flush. But if i was doing a monotub i wouldnt mind sacrificing some pins.

actually... they dont rot if you dont leave to much... I heard that the mycelium basically eats itself back up and recycles.

so the little bit of mycelium and little pins and casing material that i clean off my mushrooms i can just drop back down into the divots? this is safe to do w/o worries? because its what ive been doing.

Pluck em all..they'll be potent...
So if you have a 10 gram shroom with 1 milligram chilli when the veil is breaking, you can wait and later get a 20 gram shroom but still with 1 milligram chilli

??? i guess i ont understand your anaolgy..
are you trying to tell me to harvest all those little pins that come up with the mushrooms?
im not going to mess with those i was just wondering if it would be okay to leave them and the mycelium i clean off the bottoms of the shrooms in the mono?
someone said in this thread that the mycelium will just end up "recycling" that stuff anyways

No don't rip out pins which haven't aborted! Yes they are potent but they are a huge part of a 2nd and 3rd flush!
A LOT of mushrooms which mature in late flushes were set as pins from the beginning.
I would not drop mushroom material back onto your casing, there's no reason to, make a jar of casing material and patch with new casing. No reason to increase risk of rot or anything nasty.

Yeah no way around ripping some but be careful, patient, and give yourself a nice block of time to rip them out gently preventing as much destruction as possible. The times I've hurt mine are when I try to harvest too quickly.
