can i use this in place of wheat straw, mixed with compost?

Hmm....i believe you can use it.....i think there is even a tek for it on the site somewhere......... but i do remember reading that it contams very easily......if you cant find wheat straw try going to a craft store(michaels, pat catans, etc)...they usually have little mini bales of hay.....some gardening places have wheat straw too(ever see it on peoples lawn when they plant new grass?)

Baby Bear has used Timothy Hay for several projects. It does contaminate very easily. Pasturization must be watched closely and your area must be kept CLEAN! Wheat Straw seems to be much easier to handle..One of her projects ended up turning into an outdoor project which was very successful... Good Luck. !
