Stand up comics in the shroomery?

There are a lot of quick witted and funny people on these boards and I was wondering if anyone here thought they could do stand-up comedy. Maybe some people here have tried it and want to share their story.

If you were to be a stand up comic...who would you emulate, or what style do you think suits you?

I find that my favorite comics tend to be the cerebral/surreal types (Mitch Hedberg, Steven Wright, Dennis Miller) but I also like straight up joke tellers like Dave Attel and Radney Dangerfield. I also like Denis Leary's tough/funny guy delivery.

I dont think i'd be overly blue but I definitely wouldnt play to Carrot Top's audience.

I have been to a few different comedy clubs recently, and I may go see Jim Gaffigan on New Year's Eve. Has heckling been abolished or something? I never hear it, if anything the comic is ripping individual members of the audience.

I most definitely wanna be a stand up comic.  I just haven't mustered up the balls to do it yet.  :shrug:  Every one of my friends urges me to though.  :sigh:  One day...

i picture an interactive routine where the person on stage asks the audience for someone to state a problem they have and the man on stage will solve it in a humorous manner.
every answer will contain the words dry, smash, and shitbox.

I'd like to be a stand-up comic, but I'm not quick enough on my toes. When I see some post, I can go back to it when I think of some funny reply. When you're doing stand-up, you have to keep the jokes coming. Also, although I'm getting better at it, I still sometimes have a problem with stuttering and mumbling, particularly when I'm nervous. So I'd have to overcome that.

Bob Saget is actually pretty funny and surprisingly "blue", which goes against his corn ass work on full house and americas funniest bullshit.
