How to buy blood diamonds? also POLL

Are they cheaper?
Is it legal to sell a diamond as a blood diamond?'
I'm buying an engagement ring and I'd like a blood diamond for it.
A lot of you'll think that's really wrong, but it's no worse than buying some dope or drugs from a gangster, etc.
I'm also polling to see what others think. I like polls.

Considering how fucked up it is in most of Africa, I would say that it doesn't really matter. People kill each other over money, doesn't mean I'm gonna stop using it.

By the time diamonds reach the retail market where you could purchase them they are all mixed together. There is no telling where your diamond comes from by that point. I'm sure most "blood diamonds" are lost in the trade before cutting/polishing ever even takes place.
And besides....

Blood diamonds aka Conflict diamonds.
Basically a few countries in West Africa are funding their civil wars using money made from slaving poor locals and kids in diamond mines.
Without the money these despots make from the diamonds they would not be able to finance their war and hundreds of thousands of people would not die. The money goes straight to buying guns, ammo, mines and crack for the 9 year old kiddie soldiers.
You're basically saving money and paying the difference in dead african kids.
Think about it, every time you look at the ring you'll know why it is you got it cheaper. One day you'll be better off and regret that you (or her) could have been that materialistic. I would get her a smaller legit stone and tell her that you took a stand and didn't get her the blood diamond. She'll understand.

the only way to take advantage of the cheapness of "blood diamonds" is to be part of the consortium that controls the mines that produce them. in market they are all the same. same with every other commodity in the world. except Chinese goods... those are always cheap.... and the result of plenty of human rights violations and standards infractions also.

Why are most people saying it is ok, then I'm getting 50% of the voters telling me it's fucked up? Voice your opinions!
As for why I would want one...
Well, the movie was decent as far as I remember, plus it may be cheaper and overall it'd be kind of cool to know that people kill for your diamonds.
It's like patriotism, but with diamonds. Patriots think it's cool to fight and die for your country. How can this be more fucked up than fighting and dying for Bush?
Maybe that's over simplifying it though...

I don't think she'd mind the fact that it was a blood diamond... may like it.
Plus, it feeds the Africans. Can't have wars if the people don't have food. So it MUST be feeding them too.

From what I understand, most of the "blood diamond" conflicts have ceased for now. As for specifically looking for one, shame on you, you sick bastard.

Depends how you think of it. Could be an "I'd kill for you" thing. No?
On a side note about relationship energy, I was talking to my mother recently about the engagement ring and she said that her husband bought an engagement ring from his sister for $300. His sister's husband bought it for $1500.
The sister had got divorced before my mom's husband bought the ring from her. So it was a divorce ring.
Not only did the relationship fail, but before they divorced, my mom's husband and their first born child died.
For her second marriage she bought a wedding dress from a divorced bride. That marriage also failed.
She still tells me she didn't mind that they were from divorced marriages, she didn't think it matters. But history shows otherwise.

Here's the ring I picked out for her, by the way.
It's 0.57 carrots, white gold band... Diamond is decent. No visual imperfections.
She's got small hands, so it won't look that small. Haha.
It's the most I can afford, at $2000 online. From Blue Nile.
EDIT.
This is with the diamond I had chose. It's not a blood diamond.

Well I can see going to the store and not specifically caring where your diamond comes from, but to deliberately set out to support such a violent cycle isn't romantic at all. It doesn't say I would kill for you, it says I value useless stones over human life. Talk about free market economics and the way of the world all you want it doesn't make it right.
There are plenty of other common goods that we buy that contribute just as much to human suffering. Oil, chocolate, coffee etc. It doesn't necessarily mean that by boycotting these goods you can stop injustice, you can't.
But if you knowingly buy blood diamonds or sweatshop garments from a dealer whose only goal is profit for destruction, that makes you partly responsible. It's not "cool" it's not just the free market, it is contributing to a cycle of violence that you don't need to.
Just my opinion, but it seems like you have a pretty juvenile outlook on the whole situation, and it's not admirable.

Buying blood diamonds perpetuates the misery in some of the poorest, war-torn regions of the Third World.
Knowingly setting out to buy blood diamonds is to willingly make yourself a part of the crime.
It's a good way to curse your marriage.
You weant to give your woman the best. The best is not the product that was produced under the most atrocious conditions. Thats warped thinking.
Besides.. 0.5 carats, white gold (I'll assume gold/palladium alloy but since you said carrots, check if it's actually Platinum)
To me it seems a tad high in price to pay $2.000 for that ring. For a relatively simple ring (no offense) of possibly palladium with a 0.5 carat stone it seems a bit excessive. What grade and clarity is the diamond?
EDIT - I don't mean to diss your ring, but it isn't extensively crafted, that's what I'm saying.
