Is this the right kind of calcium carbonate? (pic)

I plan to do 50/50 plus casing with peat, verm, and calcium carbonate. I found this at my local pet store is this what I'm looking for?

The product says, "Natural, untreated, uncolored Calcium Carbonate Sand. An alternative to Silica Sand." I'm asking because I'm not sure if there's something about pet-grade calcium carbonate that might contain something harmful to mycelium or what not.

Calcium carbonate is what is known as a "long-term" ph buffer. What you're looking for is something that will immediately raise the ph to the acceptable range.

Try calcium hydroxide. It's common name is hydrated lime. It works faster than calcium carbonate, and will help to fend off contaminates in the time frame when it is most necessary (the first few weeks).

First adjust the pH with hydrated lime, then buffer with carbonate or better yet, gypsum.
