Hey songwriters...
    #7721946 -

Do you guys find that you get sick of your own songs before they're complete?

I always seem to start to hate my own arrangements and words before I have a whole song.  They get on my nerves like an overplayed radio song.

Maybe I play around with it too much

Welcome evermore to gods and men is the self-helping man.  For him all doors are flung wide: him all tongues greet, all honors crown, all eyes follow with desire.  Our love goes out to him and embraces him, because he did not need it.

Not songs, but my writing in general..

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

Yeah I'm familiar with the feeling from writing words.

It seems to be worse with music because I have to keep replaying the passage to figure out a good meter and strumming pattern, etc.  I keep picturing my neighbors going "When is he going to give up on that stupid song?"

Could be a self-esteem issue

Hehe, yeah.  I find that if I'm trying to write riffs, they start to sound REAL corny about half-way through writing.  Ruins my flow, my mood, and my energy! :mad2:

EDIT:  WC - I think the same thing whenever practicing passages!  I guess it's not so bad
