mycelium: stringy vs. fluffy

so. when growing mycelium in a jar of, lets say...brf.  which would be signs of a better, stronger mycelium.

the stringy finger like growth


or the fluffy puff stuff    :smile:

Rhizomorphic mycelia is always ideal, but a multi spore grow will have both in most cases. If you have growth that is tomentose (fluffy) that could be a sign of a senescent sub strain, if the majority of that growth is represented as such.

If you're isolating a strain on agar, you would be grabbing from rhizomorphic (ropey) sectors.
