Here ya go buddy, these are the species in mass according to mj seems like the subbalteatus would be your best bet Happy hunting! Massachusetts Gymnopilus sapineus Gymnopilus spectabilis (Fr.) Smith=G. junonius (Fr.) Orton. (Pollock, 1976). Panaeolus papilionaceus Panaeolus subbalteatus Berkeley & Broome. (Singer, et al., 1958).

what about any shrooms in cow field do those grow in mass. They shrooms you are talking about do you have any pictures or can you tell me where they grow and what they look like.

hydro, i have never looked for or found subbalteatus before, but its up there on my list of things to do . It grows from rotted hay and/or haystacks i guess and has been occasionally known to grow from or/and in manure enriched cow pastsures . you will need to find plenty of pictures and identification guidelines before you set off and trying to identify them ok? also on the masschewsits list is Panaeolus papilionaceus, it might be worth your time to do some research on that one also.
