Huge Shrooms In Backyard
    #7588602 -

Today my girlfriend was telling me about some stupid radio show she listens to and how the the DJ was talking about the huge mushrooms she found in her backyard. She posted pictures on her website, and man, they are indeed some huge ass shrooms.

Take a look!

I also found it amusing how she put on her website,

"Inspired by her discovery of giant mushrooms around her house and in the spirit of Thanksgiving Laurie is asking you to send in pictures of something you have too much of." ....the possibilities are endless.

Nice. I've found some with my dad when I was on vacation in South England. I almost sat down on one, cause I thought it was a stone but "daddy" warned me soon enough  Was fun to let them explode  It's  Langermannia gigantea...
BTW they are only edible when they are young and as you might see, they don't look that young

Those grow quite abundantly around my hometown in s.Ontario. they're quite popular with the local foragers, but I'm not so fond of them myself. They have a strong flavour, yet can be easily overpowered by garlic. They require the perfect balance of garlic, onions and cooking time to be enjoyable in my opinion. They're fun to find though since they can get soooooo BIG. The biggest I've found was about 2.5 feet tall and close to 3 feet in diameter!!!

It's cool to me to see shrooms that huge, since when I think "shrooms" I think of something like my normal sized B+'s for instance.

I wanted to get a picture of couple of shrooms that the girlfriend showed me in her backyard while gardening a few months ago...they were so unusually perfect looking. They were each consistantly grey, about 7" tall, with a 5" perfect cone cap with weird flaks all over it, then about a 1" stem. The craziest part was how heavy they were, each one felt like it was almost a pound. Wish I'd gotten a picture....
