The lonely Pan (PICS)

Well... Looks like the patch is springing back to life, slowly but surely. I?m not sure if this is Panaeolus subbalteatus with a sun bleached cap, or some other species. I?m fairly shure it?s a subb though.

Just to clarify, it was growing in a pile of grass clippings, not in the forest as it may appear.

Just checked it... Good god those spores fell fast, an hour later i've got a nice dark thick print. And it's jet black

I put a drop of water on the cap and that did the trick, released those spores very fast.

It is a healthy Panaeolus subbalteatus going through its hygrophanous stage while drying in the air.

No dung at all. This patch has been going strong on just grass clippings for over a year.

I'm glad you're doing the outdoor garden. For my garden I'm using Moe's technique of layering grass then manurer (composted) then grass then just because I have an unding supply, a layer of worm castings. Then more layers. This will compost better. I'll let the Pan subs decide which part they like best.

Yup seems reasonable...layers grass and manure, is what I am doing too. Will see how she goes.
