Mushrooms on a golf course?
    #752347 - 07/17/02 01:58 AM (14 years, 4 months ago)

People say you can find subbs on well maintained lawns? ( I forget the word used )

A golf course is well maintained and all...Would some grow here?

Yes if "well maintained" doesn't mean "used tons of fungicides".

You have it exactly. Golf courses are terrible places to pick mushrooms you're considering putting in your mouth. They are heavy users of a variety of poisons to kill weeds, insects, etc. Mushrooms concentrate many toxins, so eating mushrooms from golf courses is a bad idea.

Happy mushrooming!

Along the Oregon coast are nuimerous golf courses and in the fall liberty caps are often picked on golf course lawns. Problem is, "Have you ever been hit up side the head or body with a gold ball?" WEll I have. no fun. Baeos and libs are common on gold courses along the Oregon Coast from late July through December and sometimes into January.

Mainly on lawns that are fertilized with horse shit. Many of the new lawns that are made with those blocks of grass (sod), contain horse shit as a fertilizer. I have two patches of subbs growing around my lawn.

This relationship with golf and shrooms is very strange. After searching like four fields in South Florida, I found my current field by mistaking golfballs from the road for shrooms. Of course, after I investigated a few cow patties i found some shrooms and a whole lot more golf balls giving me my excuse.
( my dad is a bum i sell used golf balls sir i will leave now if you want me too SIR).
