Fuck The RIAA and any marjor record label Exec

Dude these guys aren't just penalizing people for downloading music there making a killing. This is Just Sick, How am I supposed to even wanna listen to some of my music after this. 222,200 for 24 fucking songs? as apposed to how much the average artist makes on one song? Thats so fucked up.

"Duluth, Minnesota — After just four hours of deliberation and two days of testimony, a jury found that Jammie Thomas was liable for infringing the record labels' copyrights on all 24 the 24 recordings at issue in the case of Capitol Records v. Jammie Thomas. The jury awarded $9,250 in statutory damages per song, after finding that the infringement was "willful," out of a possible total of $150,000 per song. The grand total? $222,000 in damages."

How do they come up with this $9,250 number. Isn't it the burden of the plaintiff to prove that my downloading a song is costing the record industry $9250? The numbers seem completely arbitrary and I would like to see how they are arrived at...

I know, right. I mean I could understand completely the 60-90c they get per song...

>He said that the jury did not explain how they arrived at the $9,250 figure, but that they expressed to the legal team that the case was "clear and well-presented."

Yeah, sounds pretty arbitrary. Sounds like the defense lawyer is a dumb son of a bitch...

The RIAA's intimidation campaign is difficult to take seriously. If anything it makes their cause look worse for prosecuting single moms and college kids.

Good point.

I wonder how much they even made off the case after paying the legal team and possibly the jurors...Why would the lawyers talk to the jurors after the decision?

>The plaintiffs' legal team spent a few minutes talking to the jury after the verdict was announced, finally emerging from the courthouse to take questions from the media.

Also, it looks like the defense based its argument on "The plaintiff can't prove my client did it."

Might have had better luck with "The plaintiffs can't prove my client's action damaged them."

Sadly none of that money goes to the Artist, unless they are big name artist, but just to the Label itself. Gotta love AmeriKKKa!
