so the state is shutting down....

the state of michigan, because of failure to reach any sort of whatever they're trying to reach to balance the budget is shutting down... that means no state police, no lotto, no sec. of state, no unemployment, no dept. of state, etc.. etc.. oh and no alcohol sales. tere's lots more shutting down, any and all state operated agencies are included as i understand it... even the local city bus which gets 800 k a month or something form the state...

anyone have any info as to history of this happening in any states before and what happened...

BTW what do you guys think the odds are of getting a group of growers to offer enough money to fix the debt, similar to the growers in cali that offered it, but were turned down... if i wanted to organize a group like this who would i turn to? norml maybe? start gathering people on the pot boards? WE all know how big of an industry marijuana is, i mean is it really unfeasable? i realize we don't have the medical like cali does, but its still just as big of a business.

maybe we'll merge with ohio and get their relaxed pot laws, instead...

i dunno i'm just trying to figure out what this all means.... and how we can fix it, because i know i'm not happy about having to goto another state just to buy liquor....


this is just more proof that the people should run the government and not a bunch of fucking stick up the ass suits, because they're too stupid and run it into the ground time after time...

maybe we can have a revolution here with no real state... i dunno i'm really tired and pondering the issue and was wondering opinions...

The only thing I regret is being a student in Michigan. Another year and I'm out of this sinking ship of a state.

so it seems the state supreme court and state appeals court are going to remain operative, but not the circuit courts, i can't confirm that yet, but i have court in one of their district courts in a little over a week on charges that the state is pressing... and i cant pay my state fines i owe atm, because the offices that take payment are shutting down...

maybe i lucked out? lol i only hope i'm so lucky. more than likely, i figure it'll be rescheduled, i'll show up just in case, but it sounds like its not gonna be going... at least not at this rate...

this isn't my main point of interest with the issue though, i want to know what it means for the people here liek the impact it'll have i mean people cant change address on their IDs and licenses, they cant update they're tags on their cars, no state troopers on the highway, etc...

plus i mean if the growers and dealers in the state could solve this budget crisis and get the state operating maybe it'd work to our advantage or maybe it IS prime place and time for revolution. i dunno what it means and i'm hoping someone well eharsed in law and politics could maybe shed some light on the situation.

Meh, I doubt anything vital really shuts down. I can remember when the federal government shutdown and nothing really changed in that period.

If you have a court "date", and you show up, but the "court" doesn't.  I'm pretty sure you won the case :lol:

well i know the liquor sales, state police, sec. of state, treasury, dept. of state, state welfare, etc are all scheduled to be shut down as well as public transportation.. seems to me many of those things are vital the rest will piss 'the people' off.... plus theres no spending going on because spending is what got this mess started, the public schools are going to suffer badly by my understanding.. the state has a lot to do with the funding of our schools and so does the state lottery...

i'm sorry i don't have an article, but it's been all over the news here lately...

I don't see this really having an effect on my life at the moment. I don't rely on the state for welfare, food stamps, or my job. Those people are going to take a hit, I bet.

Lol, as sweet as that would be for some folks I doubt it would happen. Well, maybe non-violent drug offenders who werent charged with anything above possession of a small amount 'maybe' let off but I doubt it.

From what I understand, you'd still be able to buy liquor, just not in Detroit. And if you still wanted to gamble there's always Four Winds.

last time i didn't show up they issued a warrant for my arrest... but they didn't win because of it... so maybe i can throw the judge and prosecuter in jail and charge them with failure to appear?:rofl: that'd be awesome

hell if we have a revolution here maybe its not that far fetched to throw the treacherous tyrants that try to bring us down (aka the man) into jail...

i'm sure at that point the nat'l guard would step in though... oh man wouldn't that be cool

wow, the article I read says that, among other operations by the Michigan State Police, all the drug investigations will be curtailed.

why just detroit... that makes no sense at least not that i see. i don't see how they're gonna enforce it anyways.. the bars and stores already have it on the shelves, like they'll refuse business just because a bunch of suits cant keep the budget balanced......

everyone move here so we can take over... DO IT!

NOW! we'll fund with drugs, local pigs are a cinch to deal with it's those state boys you gotta worry about... and being a new operation the DEA won't be a problem until after we've established our own government... REBEL NOW!

it just seems like such an opportunity to take advantage of... not just the drugs... everything.... michigan needs a new government as bad as our country does... why not turn it over and declare independence while its our chance... well i mean other than the fact that america would bomb us....

so maybe i'm carried away with it all, but why not?! can't i dream and can't dreams come true?
