Contemplating Michigan, again...

I can't stand Florida much longer. I am here for another month, then I gotta hit it.
I am thinking about hanging around Kalamazoo/Grand Rapids for a bit after the February Rainbow gathering.
Anyone around there?

The rhythm goes beyond, prying into the third eye, releasing the creativity held so far inside. The melodicies, through the out of tune pianos and broken classical guitars...there lies a beauty. A beauty as prevelent as the fire inside. To release these energies is pure ecstacy, to deveop these gifts is sacred. The vocality, so pure as can be, shying away from herself, lies within me. For the underlying serenitity, this is what I live for. I plea for harmony, and nothing more. Music equals love. Creation of love leads to the procreativity of the World, and it's spirals and puddles prevailing.

Ok, maybe not Florida in particular. i just cannot stand to be in THIS CITY anymore.
I can't stand the people, I can't stand the lies, and all of my family moved and left me here to rott, damnit.
the only thing keeping me here is my job, because Greeks are superior.
I am planning on Canada in early March, but I am contemplating what to do until then.

i'm from kalamazoo, but i'm moving in 2 weeks. otherwise i'd be happy to show you around. really, kalamazoo is quite lame. Bells Brewery is great - they have fairly decent bands (mostly jam bands, though) playing every thursday, friday, and saturday nights. Western Michigan University is filled up with frat-boy-types. Kraftbrau Brewery is OK, but when compared to Bells, it really sucks (as do most breweries!) . What else is there in this town... well the town is basically the universities (Kalamazoo College and Western, plus Kalamazoo Valley Community College) and the suburbs - the downtown area is slowly (not so slowly, really) dying away because all the money and commerce lives in the suburbs. If you move here, look for housing in the "Vine" neighborhood - it's the student ghetto and the most happening place. Ummm I can't really think of anything else to tell you about Kzoo, but if you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me.

cool - a few friends of mine study at some 'massage' school here (not just massage, but acupuncture, herbal medicine, aryuveda, etc) - perhaps they know each other! anyway, i guess kzoo is a nice, small midwestern college town - and bell's brewery is seriously the best beer you will ever have (assuming you like good stouts, porters, ales, etc). and our local green party is slowly getting more and more organised, which is good. but whenever i come back here for a bit, i always get depressed - probably just because of the way the city is sprawling out and turning into Franchiseville, USA.

I have had my heart and desires set on Cali for a long time now. I just don't really know anyone out there. I have threatened Kaiowas many a times, to watch out, cause Im gonna park my van in his lawn and sell grilled cheese to the passerbyers!

Come to San Fran you could team up with the corn-on-the-cob-on-a-stick venders that walk aroun and sell your grilled cheese.

Noooo, why? no wonder florida sucks, all the awesome people leave and old british tourists replace them. oh well, at least i get to leave the country for a while in a month or so. then i only have another year before i'll realize getting an anthropology degree was dumb and try to use it to get a job in some other country . . . or just become a bum, and all because you're leaving, Ares . . . oh wait nobody cares. what happened with us anyway? florida used to be fun, maybe like you said its the city, dunno which you were refering but orlando cant be much better, unless its jacksonville, or miami, or titusville, or daytona, or . . . ok florida does just suck i guess

I'm not even bothering with shovelling shit... I don't have a car, though, so that sort of contributes. I *did* have to rake all the leaves last month. That was bad enough. Now everything is in this nice blanket of snow and I'm just going to leave it that way...
Amazing, I didn't realize there were that many shroomery folk from Michigan... Anyone doing anything semi-public for new years I can invite myself to? I'm going to DC for christmas, but then I'll be back here, and all my friends and shit are in California, so... My new years plans thus far are to *maybe* wrangle my way into my dealer's party :/

i was born in detroit and lived there for a little while, i feel the same way about michigan as you do florida, as do a million other younger people reguarding the town they're from. go somewhere cool if you're just gonna up and kick it. like the west coast or pnw, they seem more hippy friendly than here or there.

Damn, Lots-O-Michiganders here...! Ya~all gotta~ know this state like the back of your left hand, weather you like it or not....!? Everybody here always seems to post about AZ and the PNW, I thought I was the only one here in Mich (besides the few people I did know about).... Jax here, and crispy cold out like a Mo~ Fo~ right now.... I can't wait till tomorrow morning - running out from the flannel sheets of a nice warm and cozy bed in my shorts to go start my car for work..... BBBbbbrrrrrrrrrrr......... NOTHING like getting a kik start on the heart the moment you wake up....! You guys with your "Lake Effect" snow - now that must be a pain in the ass...! I hate shoveling snow, it kills my back.....
I dunno~ if it is sill open, but I used to go to a rock bar in Kazoo called Pepper's.... They were the home of the band "PlayGrind" back then (mid 90's), but ALL of the really cool rock clubs have fizzled out around here..... There used to be 3 different hoppin rock bars in Jax alone, and all had good bands comin thru every weekend, now there is one bar left, and just so-so bands roll thru..... There was The Rock House in Lansing, and BC had The GangPlank, and Planet Rock..... The good ole' days..... :::::sigh:::::
As for gatherings in Mich, I always thought that the "Ledges" in Grand Ledge would be a fuggin AWSOME place to trip out, but it just isn't private enough.... Lots of stuff to explore there.... OR somewhere secluded on a Lake Michigan shore with lots of sand, like Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, or along those lines..... Could ALWAYS find a secluded place in the U.P., I think there are only like 10 people that live up there, all in Newbury....
