Lol, got the wrong kind of acetone for my Salvia extraction.. So, I have a blue bottle to show the size differences   What are the differences between these and yellow patches as I've heard them called. One stem has the remains of a veil.

I have heard a lot of anecdote on potency differences dependent on geography, season, and/or sub-species.

I've left on a white piece of paper, 3 caps to print as of last night. IT was around 66' F all night with caps un covered. Checked there this morning and no spores deposited. Should I print on black paper? (I.E. Light colored spores? Good indicator?)

As well, So are these all "activley worth it"?:

Looks exact the same to MOST of the mushies in the area of the ones I found.

If it's the 'magic' fly argaric it should have this?

A few that are kinda immature/didn't make it kinda look like this:

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/03-01/275480895-shroom3.jpg

Pretty sure in the picture you can see there is some rings at the base and the base is pretty bulbous looking. The scaly stuff on the stem is kinda sticky and likes to dry out fast on your skin..

I can see the rings at the base of the stem, but I am not willing to call this mushroom muscaria yet.
Look at that second to last pic. the picture of danger? I don't like the gold complexion, I would also do a bunch of unbiased research. Your eyes see what your mind believes.

Spore print for Amanita is white. I agree that the macroscopic features are very similar, something about this mushroom isnt' sittin right with me, but then again, it's not my mushroom

Yep. A print is the place to start. It will put your mushroom into a particular genus, You work from there.

All Amanitas produce white spore prints.

There are so many yellow to tan colored Amanita species that I won't commit to an ID on them. Rod Tulloss says there are a ton of undescribed species out there that fit that general description.

Probably the first thing you need to do is find out if the spores are amyloid. A drop of Iodine on them will either turn the spores blue-black (amyloid) or they'll stay brownish (inamyloid). Unless you can get enough spores to scrape into a tiny pile you'll probably have to use a microscope to be sure. After you've done that test you can put them into the correct subgenus.

Happy mushrooming!

I've tried Var. Formosa (they were almost orange) once before that I picked in Southern Ontario, and I can tell you man, I'll never do it again! It was such an unpleasent experience. I followed preperation instructions to a T and the high was totally not worth the extreme nausea and chills and such. I felt so sick that I had to lie down, then of course I fell asleep. I was a little 'stoned' when I woke up, about the same as if I had eaten a half gram of dried cyans. I can't say if there's any difference in the amount of ibotenic acid, but I'm pretty sure that they were pretty high in muscarine. Be careful, and be prepared for extreme discomfort if you do decide to try them.
