sound recording application

i want to record some songs of me on the guitar but i don't own a pre-amp. Any good software that i could download and record on? i just have a 1/4" jack to 1/8" to record through my microphone input.

I also have a microphone i could use to record it with.

and rt player pro if u can get the cracked version

i found one called audacity. seems to be alright, but its really touchy and picks up my fingers on the strings. Is their a way to avoid this.

Here is a start of song that I am working on that I just recorded. You will see what I mean.
