As if one religion was better then another... those who say they know the truth through bible scriptures sure have their heads up their asses. Too blind to see that any religion, no matter what religion claims to know the truth and that being the only truth sure as hell is something I don't care to believe in.

I'd rather create my own truth, search for the answers, not god's answers but my own.

It is fascinating the way you shut off any possibility that this may be true, that only one way exists to God.

You have deemed it absurd, I guess because to you it seems unreasonable. Truth is not true because men find things reasonable, truth is true because it is.

But what if it is true? For someone so rejecting of dogmatism, you have ensnared yourself in your own trap. You have a dogmatic belief that ONE WAY can never be the case when it come to finding God.

I think it may be true. Anything may be true. But it seems so very, very unlikely and very, very unhealthy to me that I choose to disregard it as viable.

I would consider that although I can't fathom anything different from One Truth, I would postulate that there are plenty of different paths that end at that same destination.

I am so sick of people telling me that this is the truth or that is the truth because "look right here, it says so in my holy book!" :hissyfit:

It's just asinine! :banghead:

I could argue that the truth was given to us in the holy scriptures of the divinely-inspired "Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy." :rolleyes:

One has to take a step back, or zoom out if you will, and see everything from a more cosmic level.  Break free of your programming (I know it hurts, but it must be done!).  Use logic for god's sake!  We are literally the same thing as everything else in existence.  We were not specially created just so we could eternally damn ourselves.  We  are just as the universe itself!  Quit being so closed-minded in thinking you already know the truth because you read the book and saw the movie!  Unfold both sides of your amazing brain and use it! :wink:

Yes, but you see, we still use the same word to describe 'truth', or at least a synonym in another language to describe the same basic concept. At the very least you'd have to concede that there's a section of our brains responsible for processing what's accurate and what's not. If we don't use that then everything just goes down the pooper. So you'll admit that there's a such thing as the essence of truth, even if we can't concieve of the 'whole ball of wax', which I agree with.

But you seem to be forgetting, friend, that much of the theology in the Bible was related to the theology of the culture surrounding it. Didn't Paul quote a pagan poet? Please read Acts 17 with an open mind.

Most of the seeming condemnation for pagan beliefs in the Bible were either against outrageous practices that even your average atheist would be going nuts about or against the institutions themselves.

At the very least you are forgetting to practice some common civility and restraint. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
