mycobag questions
    #742640 - 07/12/02 09:04 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Though not a newbie with the usage of "magic" mushrooms, I am a newbie when it comes to mushroom cultivation. For the past few weeks I have been scouring the net for information on TEK's, substrates, spores, etc. The method I have decided to use for my first batch involves a mycobag. I plan on innoculating it with either P.C. Treasure Coast, P.C. B+, or P.C. Equador. Which of these strains would best suite the mycobag? Also, how important is it that I store the mycobag in an incubator? If anyone has any experience, tips, suggestions, or information concerning the mycobag technique and the best spores to use with it please share the knowledge, it would be greately appreciated. PLEASE HELP!

I personally like B+ right now. It's RIPPING through some BRF cakes (thanks Cap'n!).

You can get away with slightly cooler and warmer temps, don't worry. Infact, bags can take a while to colonize anyways.....so the odd cool night probably won't make too much of an overall difference.

If they're Sporeworks new Mycobags, remember to keep them un-rolled and upright!

Mind you, all this is conjecture....I would never actually do any of the above.

Get exp from doing cakes first bro, best way to learn. Dont you need a hood for bags? to let me dry/cool? or is that in some cases.

You're thinking of MAKING bags, surely?

He's asking about buying Myco-bags (as in the product). If you can afford their relatively high cost and low yield, I still think bags are a great way to produce for the newbie.

And if you're having trouble getting them to fruit, go buy a block of reptile bedding and case the 100% colonized bags. Still a lot less frustrating for some newbies...

I'm sure some will argue that bags are a waste of space/don't work/etc. But they *are* accessible for those who can't or don't want to mess with BRF etc.

I have grown quite a few strains in myco bags, and I have found tresure cost to be the fastest, and the biggest producer.
