you can, but it won't humitify very well. vermiculate and perlite are two very different substances. vermiculate is used a lot because it holds water very well. perlite is used because it's a very porous rock, which means there's a lot more surface area for water to evaporate from, so it humidifies very well. vermiculate won't do anything for humidification.

Hey shroomerzil,
What LINK said above is correct. I don't think their would be one person in here that would tell you to use VERM. instead of perlite. Verm. is really only good for substrate mix. Good Luck!!
