I know this sounds like a horrible excuse, but as I was thinking about making this a thread, I was setting up for a band.
I was laying out how I was going to word it, and debating whether I shoudl say Stage Left, or audience right. In my job, we always use the stage perspective.
I thought it would be more confusing and need more explanation if I just said Stage left... which is what i meant....

So yeah, my actual theory is that the bassist is on stage left, and keys are stage right.
Which is why you have all been able to find more than ample examples to refute me.
Find a band with the bass player on stage right (audience left).

The shows I go to, the bassist is 9/10 times on the right. If there is keys they are usually on the left.

EDIT: the keys are in the left I mean

That's really odd now that I think about it..
When we used to play.. we would always set up wherever. But somehow I always ended up on stage left (Bass).. even if I was lead vocals. I hate center stage though... would always make the lead guitarist take center.
