Well I just wanted to inform everyone that I am now just a little bit cooler......I received my salvia today from companion plants. It arrived in fantastic shape. It is about 7 inches tall. So go ahead and respond and tell me how cool I am........just kidding!!! But I am still happy.

You are so cool, I always wanted to meet someone as cool as you, but they wouldn't let someone as uncool as me get anywhere near 
Watch out for pics of my salvia, hopefully tomorrow, when I get my camera working.

I figured I would show you guys a pic of my new baby. In case you?re wondering the background cacti are pedros. There are four very large stocks and three pups. I can?t wait to visit the salvia goddess. She is still much too young though.

I hope the background is just for show....pedro and salvia need very, VERY different conditions to survive! You're already showing signs of leaf burn...

I grow my cactus in a typical cactus soil from the local nursery. It does great.
psychonaut: Yeah, they were together just for pictures sake. That isn't leaf burn by the way. the plant was in shock. I just opened it like thirty minutes before the picture. It spent three days in the mail system. It is recovering nicely though. Even now (three hour later) it is showing signs of perking up.

Leaf burn == stress. Biggest killer of salvia. I lost six plants to shipping and the fact they were potted by the vendor too early 
You were lucky that it was 7" high...that's a good size.

Yeah companion told me to wait about two weeks before replanting to help it get acclimated. You think that is about right? Thanks for the advice

Does it look like it needs replanting?
Do you have it in a humidity tent or something similar?
It's worth asking them what conditions they had them growing in....if they already acclimatized them to 70% humidity, then you probably don't want to have them sitting there at 90% RH

No tent. They told me that so long as whatever i do.....if i do it slowly....then it should be cool. I have been lightly misting it to simulate humidity and it stays under a blue grow light (not direct). It really does look extremely healthy for being stuck in a box in the heat for three days. I'm thinking it could handle replanting in about three or four days.

as far as how old i cant tell you. The main four stocks were all about five feet until i cut two of them for consumption down to three feet. The three pups are all about eight inches. The pups came on their own. There are a few things you can do. look at my old post called "forcing pedro pups" in this forum.

Well my cacti and salvia are growing in the same window 
It doesn't get direct sun all day, but it has at least 4 hours of strong direct sun. At first it couldn't even take 2 hours of sun, but it can take any conditions after being acclimatised. I'm moving soon and will have a south facing window which I'm hoping to put it in, it'll take a while to gte used to it, but when it does it will grow like mad.

Well one thing is, its very dark. Ain't that meant to be a sign that it is having to use alot of chlorophyll to photosynthesis or soemthing. I dunno, but being dark does mean that doesn't it.
You can also tell with experience, there aren't always just straight signs, it takes experience to tell these things, and as I don't have much I'll shut up.
