peruvian growth (14" in 9 mos/pic)

ok, this is why peruvian/pedro is the way to go, as opposed to lophophora, for ingestion purposes: the pic shows the new growth on my peruvian torch for the last 9 months only, i.e. from January to September: 14 inches of new growth. this specimen has also the most beautiful color, in addition to being a really fast grower. i am going to root this cutting as soon as it has formed a callous where cut.lophophora on the other hand is an almost extint species and such a slow grower, that it would probably require 3-5 years to grow an amount containing a similar quantity of mescaline as contained in this 9 months cutting

thank you, salvia e. yes, the growth is impressive, but you must also consider that this is a mature specimen.it was approx 32" high in january. it's now back to exactly that hight, since i cut all the new growth. i'll try to post some pics later

yes, salvia e., but let me put out there something a little more impressive: in the same 9 months period (jan-sept02) i planted another cutting, this one only 4" high. well, hear this: it is now more than 12" high!!!!!!! i.e., it grew 3 times its original size! now, that's a happy fellow! the pics below show the 2 cacti mentioned in this post, the older specimen (from which the 14" cutting was already taken) and the younger one, that has triplicated in size. the second pic is a close-up of the younger one: you can clearly see the new growth which followed the cutting/re-rooting 9 months ago
