use your hands, get a good hold of it and twist and pull gently. Knife cutting can leave some bits on the cake which can rot, so hands is the best way.

If you have aborts pick them as soon as you can see that they are aborts. Usually in place of a abort a nice healthy shroom grows, so pick all those aborts and take the caps off and save the stems.

well the caps of aborts are rotting hence the reason for blackish caps. If they are rotting some people say they get sick off of them, i personally have never eaten a rotting cap, but iam not sure i would want to.

you can eat them, and some say they are more potent then normal ones, however i have not really tested that out much. There is numerous threads on the fourm about this, however i can't find the link right now.
