Aborted pins and next flush
    #4013167 - 04/04/05 05:36 PM (12 years, 27 days ago)

I have a casing that has a SHITPILE of tiny aborted pins, just finished harvesting first flush. The whole top layer is practically all aborts.

No way I can pick them all out...too small, too many. What should I do for second flush, scrape them off with a butter knife? Even if I do that I'm sure I can't get em all. Help?

Those are your next flushes my friend! Remember your initial pin initiation creates the majority of your pins for your first few flushes.

your casing is probably a bunk strain. i had a bunk orissa that did the same thing. shrooms didn't get more than a half inch tall and those that big were rare. the rest were very small and most were aborts. in similar conditions the other strain i had performed well. i just picked all those pins manually (it took forever). i used tweezers to yank them out because they were too small for me to pinch w/ my fingers. i tossed the casing after that first bunk flush. the little buggers were EXTREMELY potent.

I just had a casing look exactly the same, I let it grow, after picking off what I could.
I got mushrooms twice the size/amount on the second flush and the pins didn't rot or have an adverse affect.

dont pick them crazy. leave them there. pins can survive beeing dunked for 24 hours. if you dunk it youll soon notice the aborts filled with life again and some might end up growing into full mushies.
