There's a difference between denying a possibility and denying an absurdity.

Possibilities are things worthwhile investing time and contemplation considering. Contemplating absurdities is contrary to everything spiritual.

I think about the possibility that there is an ultimate creator, but I don't waste my time thinking about the possibility that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is him, even though that IS a possibility.

Learning to discern the difference is a part of spiritual growth.

Contemplating absurdities is fun but if you have a strong imagination it could lead to some serious delusions. For the sake of mental health, the concencus view is usually better than your own imaginative metaphysical ideas.

When Timothy Leery said "create your own reality," I don't think he meant "escape all responsibility and create comforting or fantastical ideas in your head and project them onto reality." Possibilities are examined in the name of self-interest and love for oneself, Absurdities are examined for a number of reasons: to escape responsibility, to try and gain some higher perspective than "lowly mortals"...

I agree with Diploid, there is a difference and it is an important one.

i love thinking about the ultimate creator, i mean really wtf is making all these crazy galaxies

but then i think, what made the creator? it doesnt work its a stupid loop

even if there is a creator (which there might be) he is definitely not involved with our planet (and prayer doesnt work)

maybe i used the wrong word, it seems we hold different definitions of possibility.. or our interpretations of this word and what it means to us are pretty much totally different. in a perfect dream the possibilities are endless? on a perfect mushroom trip possibilities and ideas flow so freely into my consciousness. if i become attached to a possibility there are barriers and hindrances to this flow and everything feels slower and less full of energy.
